SV Zoological Park and MBU's Collaborative Model for Conservation

In the heart of Tirupati, Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park (SV Zoo) is emerging as a vibrant hub for environmental education and action, thanks to a growing partnership with Mohan Babu University (MBU).

What began as a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions has transformed into a deeply rooted collaboration that is bringing students, researchers, and conservationists together to address real-world ecological challenges on the ground.

Under the guidance of SV Zoo Curator Mr. Selvam IFS and Zoo Education Officer Mr. Deepak, and with the committed involvement of MBU's NSS unit, this alliance has led to a series of impactful sustainability and outreach programs inside the zoo premises.

These initiatives go far beyond theory; they are reshaping how conservation is practiced and understood by the community.

One of the core focus areas has been tackling plastic pollution within the zoo—a common issue that threatens both wildlife and visitor experience.

Through routine clean-up drives led by NSS volunteers, large volumes of plastic waste have been collected, sorted, and sent for recycling as part of the Plastic-Free Tirupati initiative.
