SC seeks explanation from Registry why counter affidavit filed by non-party was accepted

The Supreme Court in the case Harmanpreet Singh v. State of Punjab observed and has sought an explanation from the Registrar (Judicial) how a party i.e., the complainant in the said case was able to file a counter-affidavit when its application filed seeking impleadment was not allowed by the Court.

The bench comprising of Justice Bela M. Trivedi and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case was hearing a Special Leave Petition filed against the Punjab and Haryana High Court order dated May 17 wherein the court rejected the anticipatory bail of the petitioner for the offences under Section 324 read with Section 34 and Section 323 and Section 326 of the Indian Penal Code, IPC.
