New education policy - Opening doors in higher education

Education is the basis of prosperity and stability of any nation.

After independence, the first national policy was announced in 1968; this policy, announced about 20 years after independence, was replaced by the second National Education Policy in 1986. After 34 years, a much-awaited new National Education Policy was announced by the Central Government. This long gap is itself evidence that education could not make its place in the priorities of political leadership and political discourse. From 1986 till today, there have been radical changes in the social, political, technological, and cultural life of the world and India. The increasing use of the internet, smart mobile phones, automation, artificial intelligence, space tourism, genetic engineering, robotics, etc., technological innovations have completely changed life. Easy access to information has raised serious questions on the definition of knowledge and the nature of education. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991, unipolar global politics has also brought many changes in the nature of international relations and democratic governance. The demand for responsible and welfare governance has raised the expectations of the people to the heights of the sky.

In the 90s, globalization has turned the whole world into a global village. International trade and commerce, global supply chain, global threat of international financial institutions and global expansion of multinational companies have not only affected economic activities but have also directly and indirectly affected the lives of people living in any corner of the world.
