More Than a Physical Illness: Brain Tumors and Emotional Wellbeing

A brain tumor severely affects a person and their family; it goes much beyond just physical health.

Physical illness has always been seen in connection with mental health, but when we talk about brain health, it is much more complex. Each area of the brain is linked to critical functioning. Patients with brain tumors experience a range of emotions, even depression and anxiety.

Unlike other illnesses, a tumor has the capacity to affect cognition, memory, personality, and the entire being of the person. The location of the tumor, say, if it's in the frontal lobe may affect personality and could lead to impulsivity. A tumor in the temporal lobe could affect memory.
