Jamie Smith showcased nerves of steel as he powered England to a thrilling 5-wicket win over India on the final day of the first Test.
With just a few runs needed, Smith sealed the chase in style, hitting a six and a four off Ravindra Jadeja to guide England home in the 82nd over of the innings.
In pursuit of a daunting 371-run target, opener Ben Duckett produced a scintillating knock of 149 off 170 balls to lay a solid foundation for England. He shared a commanding 188-run stand with fellow opener Zak Crawley, who chipped in with a composed 65.
The pair blunted the Indian attack and helped England reach 117 without loss at lunch, and 269 for 4 at tea, leaving only 102 runs to get in the final session.
