HUNT FOR VEERAPPAN
This docuseries follows the rise and fall of Veerappan, a dreaded smuggler whose bloody reign sparked a 20-year-long manhunt in south India. The series will premiere from today, i.e. August 4, 2023 on Netflix. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and produced by Apoorva Bakshi, the four-part series will explore the untold and unheard stories behind the dreaded Indian bandit turned domestic terrorist. The documentary takes its audience to the past to introduce them to one of India’s most notorious criminals. Known as “The Robinhood of India”, Veerappan rose to prominence by holding Tamil Nadu and Karnataka at ransom. Veerappan was a poacher, smuggler and bandit who carried out his activities in the forests of south India. At the age of 18, he joined a group of poachers who introduced him to the world of heinous crimes.
