Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia has credited India's semifinal win against defending champions Australia to the consistent efforts made by the team and the Board over the past three to four years.
India's Jemimah Rodrigues and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur celebrate their partnership during the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 Semi-Final against Australia Women at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
He said initiatives such as the Women's Premier League (WPL), equal prize money for women cricketers, and the introduction of under-15 tournaments for girls have played a pivotal role in the growth of women's cricket in India. Saikia lauded the team led by Harmanpreet Kaur and expressed confidence that they would maintain their momentum and lift the championship title.
India's women's cricket team scripted history by defeating Australia by five wickets in a thrilling semifinal to storm into the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 final.
