PM Modi hosts Mauritius PM Ramgoolam as two countries hold bilateral talks in Varanasi

India and Mauritius on Thursday deepened their ties as India and Mauritius signed seven agreements aimed at expanding bilateral ties in critical sectors including maritime security. Emphasizing that a free and secure Indian Ocean is a shared priority for both nations, India announced a special economic package worth around USD 680 million for Mauritius. Modi described the two countries as "not just partners but a family." The Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to strengthening the security of Mauritius's exclusive economic zone and announced plans to facilitate bilateral trade in local currencies following the successful launch of UPI and RuPay cards in Mauritius.
