HC seeks Haryana's reply on Punjab's plea against extra water release order

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Centre and Haryana government on a plea filed by the Punjab government, challenging the order passed on May 6 regarding the release of additional water from the Bhakra Dam to Haryana.
The notice was issued by a bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sumeet Goel. The matter is now scheduled for its next hearing on May 20. The Haryana government claimed that the BBMB violated procedural norms by taking a unilateral decision that impacts Punjab's water rights.
Representing Punjab, senior advocate Gurminder Singh Garry told the court that the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Haryana, and the Centre had misled the court by hiding key facts.
