FOLLOWING UNREST, POLICE ADMINISTRATION TO KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON CYBERCRIME IN HARYANA

Following the communal riots that broke out in Haryana's Nuh on 31 July, the situation continues to remain tense in Nuh and adjoining districts including Faridabad, Palwal, and Gurgram adding to the concerns of the police and the administration.

Apart from this, it has come to the fore that Nuh has seen a dramatic increase in cyber crime incidents—according to official statistics, around 8,500 cases are being reported every month in Haryana. Data released by the state Crime Branch has revealed that around 300 incidents of online fraud have surfaced on an average, depicting the seriousness of the situation.

A cyber police station was established two years ago following the increasing incidents of cybercrime in Nuh district. This very police station was set ablaze during the riots. It is believed that with ill intentions, a group of rioters attacked the cyber station to destroy evidence and In this police station, cases were registered against the people here who committed cyber fraud on a large scale. It is believed that the rioters rammed a public bus into the boundary wall of the cyber police station to destroy it.
