South Korea’s parliament on Tuesday approved the appointment of former Naver chief executive Han Seong-sook as the country’s new Prime Minister, elevating one of the nation’s most prominent technology executives to the government's second-highest office.

Han, who has been serving as Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises under President Lee Jae-myung, secured parliamentary approval after being nominated by the President. Her appointment comes as the new administration seeks to strengthen economic growth, support businesses and accelerate digital innovation.
As Prime Minister, Han will oversee the coordination of government ministries and play a central role in implementing President Lee’s domestic policy agenda. She is expected to focus on economic reforms, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), innovation and job creation, drawing on her extensive experience in the private sector.
