Centre clears Sikh pilgrimage to Pakistan for Prakash Purab celebrations

The Central Government has approved the visit of Sikh Jathas (groups of pilgrims) to Pakistan to take part in the upcoming celebrations of Prakash Purab, marking the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the revered founder of Sikhism.
The decision, taken after factoring in the religious sentiments of devotees, has come as a major relief to the Sikh community. The pilgrimage will take place under the framework of the 1974 bilateral protocol on visits to religious shrines between India and Pakistan.
