It is recognized that Garhwal's society and politics are influenced by its traditions.

Religion and tourism form the foundation of life here. Regarding politics, every party wants to establish its victory here. Currently, BJP's Teerath Singh Rawat is the Member of Parliament from the Garhwal Lok Sabha seat.

Former Uttarakhand CM Teerath Singh Rawat is associated with the RSS. He has been a spokesperson for the RSS and has also worked for the All India Students' Council.

Teerath Singh Rawat was a member of the UP Legislative Council from 1997 to 2002. From 2000 to 2002, he served as the Education Minister of Uttarakhand.

From 2012 to 2018, he was a legislator from Uttarakhand. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was elected as the MP from Garhwal.

Teerath Singh Rawat, who held the CM position for the shortest time in the state, has remained in the headlines due to his statements.

It is believed that he lost the CM chair due to his statements. Not only in Garhwal but Teerath Singh Rawat is also a well-known leader in Uttarakhand today. Known as the city of religion and tourism, Garhwal is famous worldwide.

Under the Garhwal seat, Badrinath is in Chamoli district, and Kedarnath is also in the same Lok Sabha.

The Jwala Devi Shaktipeeth temple is here. Rudraprayag is the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Alaknanda River joins Bhagirathi in Devprayag, and only then is it called the Ganga River.
