CITY PARKS: REVERTS TO COURT RULING THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE IT TO TAKE ACTION

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) has done another U-turn involving a request to cut down two trees in a picturesque street near Melville.

A family have spent years fighting the entity to have a monkey thorn acacia and yellow fever tree removed due to the damage they are causing to their boundary wall, driveway and kerb.

JCPZ had seemingly settled the argument in September when the High Court in Johannesburg dismissed with costs an application by the Culhanes to force the entity to remove the trees.

However, JCPZ said last month that it would agree to the request, with the Culhanes lamenting the R400,000 spent on legal fees and comprehensive reports to substantiate their claim.
