The Chinese have been introducing new car brands to South Africa at an astonishing rate, and Omoda and Jaecoo dealerships are rapidly popping up around Johannesburg.

These vehicles offer South African consumers more variety at reasonable price points.

One such model is the Omoda C5 230T Lux X Edition. A colleague of mine pointed out that the "230" in the name refers to the torque produced by the motor-230Nm.

The C5 boasts a 1.5l turbocharged engine that feels surprisingly nimble around town, especially considering how large the vehicle is. The front grille features a diamond design, and the futuristic styling flows seamlessly into the bumper, where the lights are integrated into a single unit along with the parking lights.
