No Saftas in 2025 due to leadership changes at film foundation
August 27, 2025
|The Citizen
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) has confirmed the postponement of this year's South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) to next year.
This follows apparent turmoil at the organisation.
Earlier this year Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie announced Vincent Blennies as the NFVF CEO.
McKenzie's decision was criticised by the industry, including the South African Screen Federation, the national federation of independent film, television and audio-visual industry organisations.
