After dominating the race up front, Ethiopian athletes said they felt honoured to shine on their home continent at the Cape Town Marathon yesterday.
With organisers hoping to receive top-flight World Marathon Majors status, elite athletes were given a rare opportunity to compete on African soil, and they delivered in spectacular fashion.
With a handful of elite SA athletes withdrawing ahead of the race due to injury, international visitors were the main protagonists in the men’s contest.
