Sweden part company with Tomasson amid Elanga rant

FORMER Newcastle United striker Jon Dahl Tomasson has been relieved of his duties with Sweden on the brink of World Cup elimination.

The news comes after Toon winger Anthony Elanga was caught in the eye of the storm after a tunnel rant heard by radio reporters during the 1-0 loss to Kosovo, in which the team's system was said to be questioned. Ex-United striker Alexander Isak’s lack of fitness and form - caused by going on strike - has also played a part in Danish coach Tomasson’s demise.
Simon Astrom of the Swedish FA said: “The decision taken by the Swedish Football Association is based on the fact that the men’s national team has not delivered the results we hoped for.
