SUSPECTED UNEXPLODED DEVICES DISCOVERED

RESIDENTS have recalled the moment they were told to leave their homes after suspected unexploded devices were found nearby.

Police were conducting a search of a home in Morpeth, Northumberland, as part of an ongoing investigation when they made the discovery.

Locals said it was around 8.30am yesterday when they noticed a high police presence around Olivers Mill, located on the riverbank close to the town centre.

A large cordon was put in place around the building, which now contains flats, and a bomb disposal team were called to the scene.

One resident, who asked not to be named, said: “They had one of those track robot things, but I didn’t see it go anywhere. I came out and asked if I should be worried.”
