THIS week we step back in time to the 1990s. It was the decade in which Britain entered The Gulf War as part of the coalition to liberate Kuwait after it was invaded by Saddam Hussein's Iraq; Diana, Princess of Wales died in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris; and English football was reborn with the introduction of the Premier League.

In other news, US President Bill Clinton was impeached following revelations about his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky; the Channel Tunnel opened, directly connecting Britain and France; and a major outbreak of 'Mad Cow Disease' brought chaos to Britain's farmers and shoppers.

At the cinema during the '90s, we flocked to see films such as Goodfellas (1990), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Schindler's List (1993), Forrest Gump (1994) and Saving Private Ryan (1998).

On UK television, it was a golden era for comedy and we watched for the first time the likes of One Foot in the Grave (1990), Harry Enfield's Television Programme (1990), Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge (1994), Goodness Gracious Me (1998), and The Royle Family (1998).
