Rumours swirl of Britpop legends' St James' date
January 06, 2026
|The Chronicle
WHILE the North East already looks set to be the location for one of the biggest music events in the UK this year, with Radio 1's Big Weekend returning to Sunderland, there are rumours of another massive gig in the region everyone would love to be true - Oasis at St James' Park.
There wasn't a single North East date on the schedule when the Britpop legends returned to the stage last year, for the first time since 2009, to play all over the world.
The huge reunion tour began in Cardiff in July and took Liam Gallagher, brother Noel and their bandmates to the likes of Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin, before then entertaining in stadiums around the world.
