ATTACK CAME AFTER VICTIM'S GIRLFRIEND BRUSHED PAST HIM ON NIGHT OUT

A KNIFEMAN left a man scarred for life by repeatedly slashing him after confronting his girlfriend for brushing past him in the street.
The victim had been out with his girlfriend and friends on October 23 last year and, having been to a gig in Byker, they were walking into Newcastle city centre to go for a few drinks.
As they headed along New Bridge Street, over Byker Bridge and near Manors Metro station, they became aware of Orr coming the other way.
The court heard he stood right in front of them, blocking their path and he later claimed he was “simply looking at lights in the distance”.
Prosecutors told Newcastle Crown Court the victim's girlfriend brushed past him and Orr, 51, took exception to that. The group said he spat in their direction and the victim asked him not to do that, but as far as they were concerned, that was an end of the matter.
They continued on their separate ways, but Orr was fuming and decided to turn around because he wanted to confront the woman over what had happened, claiming she had “moved him out of the way”.
