Jailed child rapist was Newcastle headteacher

A TEACHER jailed for raping a child was once a headmaster at a Newcastle school.

Lee Brumby who has been jailed for sex offences

Lee Brumby was last month locked up for 16 years after he was convicted of five historic sex offences against a child.

The 64-year-old had been working at a school in Essex when his horrific past came to light. But Brumby did also spend a number of years as a headteacher in Newcastle.

As Brumby was sentenced, a judge told him parents of his former pupils would be horrified to learn what he had done.

Jailing him at Southend Crown Court Judge Richard Conley said: “No doubt, the pupils and the parents of the pupils who attended the schools at which you were a teacher and a headteacher will be aghast when they learn, if they haven't already learned, about the kind of man in whose charge they placed their children.
