Industrial action set to continue for ropemakers
September 18, 2025
|The Chronicle
ROPEMAKERS at a historic Wallsend company are continuing strike action over an ongoing pay dispute.
GMB Union has said that almost 100 members of staff at Bridon International in North Tyneside will stage fresh industrial action.
Workers will stage three 24-hour strikes on September 18 and 30, and October 1, with the dispute centring around a 2.5% pay offer, a figure which the union says represents a real-terms pay cut amid rising living costs. The initial vote to strike was approved by 90% of the GMB members working at the factory.
