Howe hoped for a home second leg

United boss Eddie Howe has expressed his regret at the Magpies’ Carabao Cup semifinal draw against Manchester City.With Arsenal, Chelsea, City, and FA Cup and FA Community Shield winners Crystal Palace still in the mix, Howe, pictured below, accepted that there was no easy option for his side in the last four.

However, the dynamics of the semifinal against Pep Guardiola’s side changed slightly when Jamie Redknapp plucked Newcastle out of the hat first on Wednesday's draw in the Sky Sports studios following the 2-1 win over Fulham.
