'Howaymanay' off with a bang

FAMILIES watched on as fireworks lit up the Newcastle Quayside on New Year's Eve.
Crowds of people gathered along the banks of the River Tyne for the first of two fireworks displays to herald the end of 2025 and welcome in 2026 to the city.
The display took place as part of the New Year's Eve 'Howaymanay' celebration, which has been launched this year.
The first fireworks were set off at 6pm and the display was free for anyone to attend.
