Heed primed for battle against 'masters of 1-0'
October 17, 2025
|The Chronicle
GATESHEAD must prepare for a physical and tactical battle in their visit to National League rivals Brackley Town.
-
That was the verdict of Heed boss Alun Armstrong as his side look to continue their upturn in form with a win at St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon.
After a 1-0 home defeat against Hartlepool United - who last week sacked mamager Simon Grayson - Armstrong’s men have secured three wins from their last four games in all competitions and have made the first round of the FA Cup.
Last weekend’s fourth qualifying round home win against Aveley brought a welcome financial boost and set up a visit to League One high-fliers AFC Wimbledon in the first round.
However, any thoughts of causing an FA Cup upset are on the back burner as Gateshead look to move into the top half of the National League table.
