DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR A FIRST TIME DAD OF TWINS
-
For the first five years of my son's life, he ignored anything we asked him to do.
His sister was similar but at least would respond to anything involving food.
This isn't unusual behaviour so I went with it, and adopted a laissez faire approach to parenting, leaving them to simply get on with their own lives, and me with mine.
It was like having a couple of small housemates, albeit ones I was happy to cook for and take to the local park.
This way I avoided the emotional angst of shouting, while they did exactly what I told them not to.
All that changed when Thomas had a routine hearing test, and we discovered he couldn't hear, provoking some guilt over all the times I'd told him off for not listening.
Admittedly, it didn’t explain Emma. She remains a mystery, and I'm comfortable her behaviour will remain unexplained for many years to come.
