Darts star backs cancer charity ahead of WDC

A darts star from Northumberland has reaffirmed his commitment to a cancer charity ahead of a busy Christmas period.

Chris Dobey of Bedlington is getting ready for the World Darts Championship (WDC) at London's Alexandra Palace, which begins this week.Chris, who goes by the nickname 'Hollywood, knows several people from his hometown who have been impacted by prostate cancer, the most common form of the disease in men, so he is once again supporting Prostate Cancer UK this year.

The Professional Darts Corporation players are coming together to help raise crucial funds for the charity, as part of Paddy Power's The Even Bigger 180 campaign for 2025/26. This follows the success of the previous campaigns The Big 180 and The Bigger 180, in partnership with Sky Sports.

The North East native has contributed heavily to the fundraising initiative, scoring 41 maximums in last year's tournament and 43 in 2023/24, therefore making an impressive £84,000 donation as a result.
