SEAGULLS STRIKER FITS BILL FOR UNITED

- By AARON STOKES

Could history repeat as links to Pedro persist?

NEWCASTLE United know what they like - and like what they know. When it comes to transfer targets, the Magpies often refuse to give up easily when they spot a top talent.

As such, only a few days of the summer window being open, the Magpies have been linked with a plethora of intriguing and familiar talents. The latest, not for the first time, is Brighton's Joao Pedro.

The Brazilian, 22, has been known to Newcastle decision-makers for some time.

Before his Watford exit, United pushed for his signature and believed they were going to come out on top in the fiercely-contested race for his signature.

So much so, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe was asked about reports Pedro's St James' Park move was a done deal as suggested by some.
