Repeated mistakes are not mistakes — they are deliberate

At the age of fifty-six most Indians are enjoying life as grandparents, but in India there is one fifty-six-year-old who stubbornly refuses to let go of childhood antics: prince Rahul Gandhi.

- RAKESH SHARMA

Repeated mistakes are not mistakes — they are deliberate

He still refuses to grow up and nurses dreams of becoming Prime Minister. Worse, Congress colleagues — whether reluctantly or otherwise — are repeatedly forced to defend his blunders, making him a figure of ridicule among the Indian public.

Once again, on his current tour of South American countries, he has trotted out the same tired, rehearsed line: “Democracy in India has ended — foreign nations should help revive it.” This time he added something new: that India should not lead the world. And, to belittle India further, he even praised China.

Rahul knows his words inflame public anger here and that such rhetoric has cost him and his alliances elections time and again.

Yet, regrettably, neither he nor his advisers counsel him to reflect honestly and correct his mistakes.
