Punjab Govt Rolls Out New Mining Policy To Curb Corruption

The Punjab government has implemented a new mining policy in the State, which aims to curb corruption.
According to the Punjab government, landowners could extract sand and gravel themselves as there was no need for auction under the new mining policy.
The State aims to generate more revenue since the royalty rate for sand and gravel remains fixed.
The government has also made plans to monitor all sites and checkposts with the help of cameras, bridges, and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).
According to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann government, the new mining policy in Punjab will help reduce incidents of illegal mining, eventually increasing supply and providing a direct benefit to the public.
