|The Business Guardian
The Single bench after noting that the brother of the appellant had been given compassionate appointment and the appointment is not transferable to any other family member subsequently had dismissed the writ petition.
-

The Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case Sobia Mujib v. State of Punjab and others observed and has held that once a family member has availed the benefit of compassionate appointment, the same cannot be granted to another family member after the service of that family member had been terminated.
In the present matter, the appellant's brother was appointed on compassionate grounds in position of her father, who passed away during service. Therefore, the brother absented himself from duty, and his service was terminated. The appellant sought the appointment in place of his brother. The bench comprising of Justice Anupinder Singh Grewal and Justice Lapita Banerji was hearing the present matter.
