India to have over 100k semiconductor engineers
October 26, 2023
|The Business Guardian
India's semiconductor industry is experiencing a seismic shift that promises a substantial surge in job opportunities in the sector.
-

With major players like Micron and the Tata Group establishing semiconductor fabrication units and research and development centers, the country is expected to witness the creation of over 1 lakh semiconductor design engineering jobs in the next five years.
Micron, a global semiconductor giant, has initiated recruitment efforts near educational institutions in Sanand, Gujarat, where it plans to establish a semiconductor fabrication facility. Already, over 30 students have received job offers from Micron, and experts predict that about 150 engineering graduates from Gujarat will be hired by the end of the year.
Micron’s venture in Sanand represents a significant milestone, with an estimated investment of INR 22,500 crore. The company is set to build one of India’s most extensive Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) facilities at Sanand GIDC, offering direct employment opportunities for 5,000 individuals and indirectly employing an additional 15,000 professionals.
