Fitterfly's "Klik" makes meal tracking a snap with AI for diabetics

Fitterfly, a prominent healthtech company in India, has partnered with Google Cloud to introduce Fitterfly Klik, an innovative AI feature designed to simplify meal tracking for individuals with diabetes and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

This new feature aims to revolutionize the way users track and analyze their meals, addressing the challenges posed by traditional methods like manual journaling or text-based app entries.

Nutrition planning is crucial for managing type 2 diabetes, weight loss, and heart disease. However, the cumbersome nature of traditional meal tracking methods often discourages users. Fitterfly Klik changes this by leveraging the advanced capabilities of Gemini Flash 1.5 on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, transforming meal tracking into a swift and insightful process.

“Klik makes meal logging possible in a few seconds, even with multiple dishes on a plate,” said Ammar Jagirdar, Head of Fitterfly X-Labs. “Multimodal models today are surpassing traditional image classification methods in accuracy, even on a complex problem like food.” Fitterfly Klik employs AI computer vision technology combined with the extensive Fitterfly Nutrition Database, which includes over 37,000 Indian foods, to identify, analyze, and break down food items.
