Coimbatore eyes global leadership with EV skilling program

In a major move towards positioning itself as a global nexus for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, Coimbatore has witnessed the rollout of the seminal Tamil Nadu MSME EV Skilling Program.

This progressive endeavour is orchestrated through the synergistic partnership between the World Resources Institute (WRI) India and Facilitating MSMEs (FaMe) Tamil Nadu, with a mandate to furnish Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with the requisite skills and acumen to excel in the booming EV domain.
The launch ceremony was held at the CODISSIA Fair Grounds in Coimbatore, drawing participation and interest from over 180 MSMEs ready to forge a future in the EV landscape. The initiative stands as a testament to WRI India’s dedication to ushering in a just transition for MSMEs and labour forces within India’s automotive and textile arenas, working in tandem with prominent organisations including CODISSIA, Laghu Udyog Bharati, and the Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association.
