Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das has highlighted the significant potential of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in revolutionizing cross-border payments

Speaking at an interaction at IMF Governor Talks in Marrakesh, Morocco, Das emphasized that CBDC can be an efficient and effective means of conducting cross-border transactions. The RBI has conducted pilot projects to test the CBDC’s viability, and the results have been excellent. The CBDC was initially introduced in wholesale and retail segments and will now be extended to overnight money markets.
