MTV is preparing to wind down its international music broadcasting by the end of the year, marking the symbolic close of a chapter that once defined global pop culture.

As online streaming platforms and social media dominate how audiences consume music, the network that pioneered music television is stepping back from the space it helped create.

According to an AFP report, the move includes shutting down MTV Music, MTV Hits, and its '80s and '90s music programming in the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.

Reports also say these channels will stop broadcasting in France, Germany, Poland, Australia, and Brazil.
