Runners shine in Brass Monkey Half Marathon

The Brass Monkey Half Marathon, a race well-known for fast times kept up its reputation as hundreds of runners produced great performances and gained personal bests, including athletes from Sunderland, writes Kevin Carr.

Olympian and Sunderland Stroller Alyson Dixon (80.45) was second Over-45s female, and 12th female overall.
Fellow Stroller Alan Cooney ran an impressive 81.56 and Wendy Chapman claimed the Over-55s female title with a time of 87.13.
Houghton Harriers' Anna Pigford produced a superb run to finish in 15th position in the women's race in a superb time of 81.45.
Several Sunderland Harriers also made the trip to York with Tasha Steel keeping up her form to produce a personal best performance, knocking off eight and a half minutes with an impressive time of 88.26.
