Planners rule on retail car park changes

Sunderland City Council's planning department has approved an application for new electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at Peel Centre retail park in Washington.
-
■The retail park sits off the A1231 Sunderland Highway and includes a range of major retailers and businesses.
■New plans from The EV Network, submitted earlier this year (2025), proposed repurposing part of the retail centre's car park in the section of the site housing B&M, Lidl and Greggs.
