Lando is 11th Brit to crack winning formula for F1 title

Lando Norris (pictured right), became the 11th British driver to be crowned Formula One world champion earlier this month.

Here, we look back at a timeline of those title winners...

Formula 1 World Champions

1958

Mike Hawthorn became Britain's first F1 world champion. Though he only won one of the 11 races to Stirling Moss' four, he still finished one point clear at the top of the standings.

1962

Graham Hill (pictured below), won four of the nine races to finish 12 points ahead of fellow Brit Jim Clark, who won through of the other five events.

1963

Jim Clark went one better than 12 months earlier, storming to the title by winning seven of the 10 races - a total that wouldn't be beaten until Ayrton Senna’s eight in 1988.
