Growing up in Medingen village, GaSekgota in Limpopo, young Prudence Sekgodiso dreamt of being known beyond the hills around her village.

Golden girl Sekgodiso aims for the very top

She is now living her dream as an internationally acclaimed sprinter who recently won gold in the 800m World Indoor Championship.

Sekgodiso etched her name in the history books when she walked away with a gold medal at the World Indoor Championship in Nanjing, China, last weekend.

It did not only end there, but she also added the cherry on top by winning the race in 1 minute 58.40 seconds, beating the best that Ethiopia, renowned for its long talented runners, could offer.
