DJ Law-T: Mixing beats and brilliance

THE crowd cheers, the lights pulse and the beat drops - DJ Law-T is in her element.

At just 21 years old, Thiara Naidoo, known professionally as DJ Law-T, is rapidly carving her name into South Africa’s music scene.

Hailing from Merebank, Durban, she balances life behind the decks with life in the lecture hall, proving that passion and discipline can coexist.

“I strive to excel in everything I do,” she said, reflecting on a journey that merges music, academics and leadership.

Alongside her growing career as a DJ, Law-T is completing her final year of an LLB (Honours level) degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Her commitment to excellence extends beyond the dance floor: she serves as a Vice President of the Golden Key International Honour Society for 2025 and is a student representative for the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW).

“Music and education have both taught me about dedication, balance and the importance of staying true to your goals,” she explained.

DJing began as a pastime, but it quickly became a driving force in her life. “Performing allowed me to finance my studies while pursuing something I love,” she said.
