Warnings of snow, floods, ice and rail travel chaos

STORM Goretti took a fatal twist when a man was killed by a tree falling on his caravan.

News of his death emerged as gales felled trees and torrential rain brought flooding to swathes of the country.

The man in his 50s was found dead in the caravan in the Mawgan area of Helston, Cornwall, on Thursday evening. Workers were removing the tree on Friday.

Weather warnings for snow and ice were in placed for nearly the entire country in the aftermath of Goretti.

Yellow Met Office warnings were in place until today and there are also flood alerts as the snow melts.

The South West coast was battered by fierce gales and torrential rain, while parts of the Midlands, Wales, Scotland and the North were hit by snow after Goretti hit.
