A LEADING lawyer has warned Keir Starmer's new plan for a “two-tier” disability benefits regime could be challenged in court as “discriminatory”.

Glasgow solicitor Mike Dailly, of the Govan Law Centre, criticised Labour's “back-of-the-fag-packet” concessions in its controversial welfare Bill.

In a U-turn aimed at fending off a huge backbench rebellion, proposed cuts to social security payments for disabled people will now only apply to future claimants - not current recipients.
