SCOTT ARFIELD insists he was driven to write the script for Falkirk's Championship title success by the memory of former Bairns academy team-mate Craig Gowans.

The midfielder took time out after Friday night's title-clinching win over Hamilton to honour his friend, who was tragically killed in a training pitch accident in 2005.

And Arfield believes fate played a hand in his mission to help bring success back to the club.

He has worn Gowans' number 37 jersey throughout his career and revealed taking Falkirk back to the Premiership was always the grand plan.
