Roll out the glazy days of summer

THE spring sunshine has everyone in a better mood - especially with the clocks going forward.

We had salad twice for dinner, which is the culinary equivalent of "taps aff", But you do instantly stop hankering after more wintry food and start thinking far too far ahead to barbecue-packed summers.

Just as the gardeners warn against getting carried away, those of us in the kitchen have to bide our time.

However, I'm guilty of not following my own sage advice and in the last three weeks have made variations on spring lemon cakes so often I should grow a citrus tree that'll be tropical by May.
