MSP hopeful accused of 'using women as props'

A BUDDING MSP faced complaints about his treatment of women while a member of an independence student group.

Lloyd Melville, a councillor in Angus, was offered equalities training due to complaints about his behaviour towards female members of Stirling University Scottish Nationalist Association (SUSNA).

Several former members of the group told the Sunday Mail that some women felt "used as props" by Melville, who was president of SUSNA in 2019 when the complaints were made.

They alleged he described female members as "lazy cows" when they weren't at meetings and made jokes about the group meeting its gender quota when they did attend.
