GEWAN finally justified his lofty reputation in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.
Andrew Balding's colt was a 25/1 shot for the Group 1 after flopping on soft conditions in the Champagne at Doncaster last time.
However, he was back on an upward curve as he raced prominently on the faster surface under James Doyle.
The rider kicked for home three out and the juvenile quickly built up a commanding lead.
