Go brack to classic bake

I'M LUCKY enough to be friends with a bunch of lovely Irish girls who, like me, enjoy swapping recipes - especially for cake.

When I mention making barmbrack for Halloween, they come over all misty-eyed and start swapping stories about searching for the ring or the coin inside.

Obviously, they were talking about more than 30 years ago since these days health and safety rules relating to food and basic parenting mean there's no way youd hide a trinket in a cake in case someone chokes on it.

The Irish actually invented Halloween.
